Samskaras (Ceremonies)
Celebrate the various occasions in your family through various Vaishnava Homas. Homa, Havan, Agni-hotra or Yagna is a Vedic Fire Sacrifice where offerings are made to Lord Vishnu through the sacred fire (Agni).
In the Vedic tradition of Gaudiya Vaisnavism, the procedures of samskaras and yajnas are based on the domestic manual of the Sama Veda. Lord Caitanya deputed Gopala Bhatta Gosvami to document these procedures for the use of future devotee communities and thereby protect the principles of devotion (bhagavad-dharma-rakshartham).
For this reason, Gopala Bhatta Gosvami wrote the Sat Kriya Sara Dipika in Sanskrit and documented the ceremonial procedures for posterity. This manual has been used as the standard for performing devotional rites in the Gaudiya tradition for over 500 years. Bhaktivinoda Thakura propagated this manual while establishing Lord Caitanya’s philosophy and Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati published it thrice with the last in 1935.
The sages, knowing Me as the ultimate purpose of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities, attain peace from the pangs of material miseries.
